More about Zak:
Zak was born to a family of wombats. Sort of. Okay, well, he was born to a human family who then proceeded to get themselves slaughtered while riding down a road on a stubborn donkey that happened to be in cahoots with a gang of bandits. It was, in fact not a donkey but merely a shapeshifter sold as a donkey to the (fairly rich) family in order to get them all to come down the road for the ambush. So, indeed, the family was killed and poor baby Zak was thrown from the ass and onto the back of a wild wombat who proceeded to take him home. Then, after about a year of changing into a wombear (which is what heeee had called it) he was discovered by travelers who took him home and adopted him, (though they had a hard time getting him to take a bath for a few years thereafter) and he grew up happy and with a great love of honey. They trained him in the ways of a blacksmith (though his first few attempts at making cast iron fence posts looked rather less then fence like) and he grew somewhat wealthy off his wares.
