Thank goodness! I was scared for a second that for rolling a 20 all I got was an empty room.

The room is covered in runic inscribing which you are sure you cannot decipher. There is an altar with what appears to be a wheel covered in the same runes.
It's a damn shame it looks like no one else has come through here and the puzzle would have been much easier if someone didnt get killed and left some clues.

I take it that means I can't make a Decipher Script check on the runes?
You guys better go ahead and make Arcana/Religion checks. I will not be much use down here, I imagine.

...Can Goran eat the dead guys brain and gain all of his knowledge?

If that works, I'm killing Goran and Hiro so I can learn magic. =P

It's still obviously some kind of door. I mean, if it is blocking the path that leads to the next area and it can be opened then it is technically a door.

It's magic, it could easily be a portal of some description. Alternatively it could be a false wall, or, uh, a window? There are multiple other options, is the point!

I was hoping Zak would roll religion, so we had all our bases covered on this, but I guess that works too.

Also, y'know... you have to take, what, four levels of monstrous humanoid? You're basically gonna be level one when we're all level ten. Just sayin'. =P

Which works fine, provided you can use it well. Like, for example, if Orga kills someone, it may be worth committing to memory what that person looks like, incase you need to assume their form. Because that's your big advantage, you can appear to be anyone, right? The weak mind reading is nice, but Control Shape is essential, even to their damage dealing abilities (the ability to assume the form of a humanoid with natural weapons, such as a minataur, or a vampire, is an incredibly powerful ability in combat). Play it right, and you don't need character levels.

...And here I made myself a character who doesn't even know she has that ability. On the bright side I get an extra +8 bonus to disguise as long as I'm in a human appearance, but I think I may need to figure out a way for her to figure out she has this power IC fast. On the bright side it's not like the minotaur where I get seven levels, and to be honest theis monstrous humanoid class isn't nearly as bad as that one. It feels kind of a baseline rather than a hindrance.

I like minotaur, personally. What they lack in levels, they gain in Awesome charge attacks. Stack it with a rogue sneak attack, and they can be really formidable. As a result, the levels of MH really help them with BAB and hitpoints. But, I mean, that's a slow, combat focused build, like most of my character builds. Great once you're up in the twenties, kinda boring at low levels.

There is one thing about the minotaurs that is a bit of a facepalm though: that they're immune to mazes. In the greek myth they beat the minotaur with the labyrinth.
