"Oy, Wat. Can you see whats on the other side? Whats written on the river?" I ask. "If you can, can you write it with your sword in the dirt... Unless someone here has a quill and paper?"

You don't have a speedometer, but at a guess, you'd say pretty frickin' fast.

That would depend on the depth, which is masked by the night. The black throws could be an inch deep, or they could cover a bottomless pit.

"Mordecai, you wouldnt happen to have some illumination spell would you?" I ask as Wat does his thing.

"Alas I mentioned earlier. The closest I know of is a simple childrens trick, sadly not enough to create an amount of light. My apologies but I do believe we have torches, if Mr Wat would be so kind as to trek across he could take a torch and read it

"If Mr. Wat could trek across... Hm... There is the possibility of throwing the torch, but that wouldnt work well, we could... have Wat walk across with Suzy on his back or... Hm... An illuminating arrow, perhaps? Put some cloth onto an arrow, fire it across?" I say, looking back to Leilanad. "Mr. Leilanad? What do you think of shooting some flaming arrows across the river to illuminate the stone?"

You can make out that there are markings on the pillar. You are fairly certain it is writing. But you can't read it, or replicate it.

"Also, Mr. Wat. Do you think you can get that grappling hook into a tree or around the pillar?"

I look for something sturdy to tie the other end of the rope to.
