The Den of Terror

The half-elf flashed an elven form of the middle finger gesture, then proceeded to ask the dark figure, "What kinds of enemies will be in this 'Den of Terror'?"

The figure turned back to the ranger.
"We don't have conclusive reports. We know a number of greenskin tribes have been recruited, and that they have a necromancer, so expect the walking dead. Krom, the Dwarven warlord has pledged his army to their cause too. More than that? Who knows."
He hesitates slightly.
"I'm sorry, I don't believe you gave me your name..."

"Leilanad," the ranger replied. "It's Leilanad."

"So we'll likely be facing poorly armed goblin skirmishers or scouts to begin with, some heavier hitting orcs in probably crudely made plated or mail armour, maybe some hobgoblins here or there, if they can recruit a larger adversary to their side, such as a troll or an orgre they'd send that at us or even if they have to reaminate its corpse... Oh and a few stout beareded fellows in heavy armour with an unhealthy fetish for axes will probably be guarding the more important locations." I say, mulling over the prospect. "I say Wat-Sun goes in first."

"Agreed," Leilanad replied.

Errwick nods eagerly, armour clattering as he does so.
"Errwick should be stayink up front with the orc! Heli shall be protectink us both!"
The old man nods and lays a map out on the table, placing a small golden coin on each corner as paperweights. He also places one in the middle, marking some other point.
"Very well. Two miles to the west, just here, by the River of Anhek, you will find a pillar. It is the marker to the entrance. More than that, I cannot help you, 'cept to grant each of you some small power. Each of these coins is enchanted with a different spell. You all may take one. Go now, and tread softly."

Nik, check your messages. =P

I grab the top right corner coin examine it. "What kind of power does this bestow?"

Suzy reaches for the coin closest to her, picking it up and holding it in front of her face in order to examine it.

Wat-Sum grabs the one in the center and bites it, inspectivly. "Whigh wunna dese maikes me hit 'ardah?"

A faint flash comes from each coin.
Zak, you notice that your coin seems to buzz faintly.
Hiro, yours appears to be glowing slightly.
Orga, yours seems translucent.
"Each coin is unique. Flip them, and you'll see what they do."
There are two left, at the corners of the map closest to the old man. The top corners of the map start to curl over at the missing weight.

Wat-Sun looks at his coin, entertainer by it's translucence and then flips it into the air.

You flick the coin up in the air, and it pings off a ceiling beam. It then proceeds to ricochet off pretty much every object in the room before landing neatly back in your hand, and knocking a full mug of ale off the bar into your hand without you having to move an inch. As it lands, there is a "fwoom" noise, like a quiet sonic boom (or maybe a sonic rainboom), and a single arcane pulse of baby-blue light emanates from the coin, radiating for only a split second. At first you see nothing, then slowly an arcane writing with a dark blue hue appears on the table. It looks almost as if it's etched into the wood.

Your new employer makes no reaction.
"That coin makes the invisible visible."

"Alroight, s'not as good as 'ittin stuff, but alroight" Wat-Sun is not startled by the sudden appearance of ale and chugs the drink as if he'd been holding it the entire time.

The ale is stout and goes straight to your head. You feel merry, although not actually drunk by any means.

Leilanad takes the coin from the drunkard and says, "If I'm the archer waching your backs, I think I should be the one who sees the invisible enemies coming."

Wat-Sun grabs the elf by the neck. "OI! HANDS AWF YU POINTY-AIRED BASTAHD! S'moi coin."

I flip the coin expectantly.

Both of you roll grapple.
